Brian has infinite patience with kids, animals, and confusing situations. Traveling to foreign countries and learning new languages are two of his favorite activities. We very much hope to enroll our child in a multilingual school here in San Francisco. Brian is very athletic and was on the tennis team in high school. He still hits the ball around with his dad, who lives nearby in Sacramento.

Matt is a go-getter. He volunteers at the homeless shelter sponsored by his Unitarian church. Matt enjoys fixing most anything and usually has a home improvement project underway. He is a voracious reader and an adventurous cook, an interest he developed spending lots of time in the kitchen with his mom. He runs up the phone bill making sure his friends across the country are doing well. Running is his favorite sport, and he has completed one marathon. Matt’s dad introduced him to running, and it’s an activity they still share today.

Both of us enjoy walking our dogs at the beach, discovering new things about the city we love, and exploring California. We also have a passion for museums (the Exploratorium is our favorite in SF), aquariums, concerts, sporting events, and amusement parks. We can’t wait to share all of these things and more with our child!

At family gatherings, you won’t find us in front of the television watching football. Instead, we’re the ones playing soccer or Monopoly with the kids, reading stories, or talking with them about bugs and where the wild things are. We look forward to sharing our sense of humor and appetite for fun with our child.

We moved to San Francisco in October 2000. We think it is one of the greatest places in the world to raise a child. Our neighborhood is called the Inner Sunset, and our home is located just two blocks from Golden Gate Park near the playground and carousel. There are also many other great places for kids within walking distance. We’ve got plenty of space and a room ready to become the nursery.

Our family and friends are delighted that we are adopting. The grandmothers-to-be are especially excited and plan to fly out to meet the newborn and offer their parenting advice. Much of Brian’s family lives in the Sacramento area. We spend lots of time with them for birthdays, holidays, and barbecues. We see the rest of our families several times a year for holidays and other occasions. All our friends in San Francisco are also very supportive and can’t wait to help out with the newest addition to our family.
